I decided to make my 1st skin during the Easter holiday
Published on April 6, 2007 By Life is a Game In OS Customization
This must be already the 10th time that I decided to make a WindowBlinds skin and couple of times I even started with the artwork but never got myself to make any significant progress as the job just seemed so big.

That's why I decided to make it during my 4-day Easter holiday because I don't have a girlfriend anymore and all my friends are going away I have the whole 4 days absolutely free so I figured that this should be enough time for me to create a skin. Yesterday I bought enough food supplies for the whole holidays so that's taken care of and I've just done my laundry as well so there's nothing else to keep me away from my computer screen.

I've always looked in SkinStudio all the sections that I need to skin and after seeing how many of them there are I lost my will to even start but today I will just go step by step and not focus how much I still have left. And also I hope that actually posting an article will make me more obligated to finish the job.

It's 7:46 am here in London and I'll start with creating the skin in Photoshop CS2 right after I finish writing this article. I'm pretty familiar with SkinStudio as I've used it numerous times for creating WinMedia skins.

Enough talking/writing. I'll get started now. I'll post updates on how I'm doing and if anyone has any tips for me please let me know.

4 days seems pretty quick to make a wb skin...I know skinners who takes months to finish a skin. Should be interesting to see the result.

You have my undying admiration if you can pull it off...I've been werking on a remake of an existing skin for more than a month now.

4 days is being ambitious. I spend that amount doing little tweaks, things like making sure text is visible in all sorts of programs etc. But good luck anyway.

If you need any help along the way, there's always someone around, just give us a shout.

You should create a mockup first before you jump to making the images.

I'm aware that it's not so much time but I don't want to think about it but just do as much as I can and most importantly have fun after all 'Life is a Game'

It's 12:43 now in London and I just finished the taskbar and start menu. Here is the screenshot.

The time is 15:53 and I just finished the basic design of a window and will now go and cook lunch and after I'm going out a bit for a walk because it's really warm and sunny today in London. I will finish the Toolbar Icons in the evening and with the rest will continue tomorrow

I like it! How about different color schemes? Though it does look pretty black so maybe it will recolor well.

Apply then Reapply etc....... check every menu you can think of for visable text And avoid using black for your "push button.tga/system button" as changing to a light font color for this item can cause some undesired effects in some programs! Good luck don't forget to have fun!!!
